Two cycling ministries, Love Albania and Love Spain, have decided to use this tour as an opportunity raise funds for Darda Dhimo, a 19-year-old girl from Korce, Albania who was just recently diagnosed with leukemia and is facing enormous medical bills for her treatment. Darda is a friend of several of the riders on this trip. Check out her video below.

Darda received a devastating diagnosis just a few days after completing her freshman year of university. After two failed attempts at giving blood due to anemia, she went in for further testing. On June 26, 2023 she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Her bone marrow produces an abundance of white blood cells and has almost completely stopped making red blood cells. The doctors at the state hospital in Albania’s capital Tirana recommended that she receive treatment out-of-country.
Darda and her mother rushed to get passports and within three days they were in Thessaloniki, Greece in the private St Luke’s hospital operated by AMG International. They repeated all of the tests and confirmed her diagnoses. The doctors immediately created a treatment plan for the first phase. Darda will receive eight cycles of chemotherapy in total over the months to come. The doctors will monitor her body’s response to treatment and once she finishes seven more cycles they will evaluate whether she needs a bone marrow transplant.
Unfortunately, this brings a tremendous financial burden that Darda’s family will never be able to pay in this lifetime or the next. The first cycle alone cost $8,000. The estimated total treatment cost is expected to be $165,000 US Dollars.

The ride over 450 kilometers nearly 500. A 5 cent/km donation is a mere 25$. 10 cent is 50$. And 20 cent is 100$. There is no limit to your generosity.
